India has unveiled an auction for the supply of green ammonia with identified 10-year offtake from domestic fertilizer producers, with a volume of 539,000 tonnes/year (min).
State authority Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is to manage the award and act as intermediary offtaker, signing 10-year contracts with the awarded bidders, and a back-to-back supply agreement with fertilizer producers with committed green demand ranging from 4ktpa to 100ktpa.
The tender conditions show strict guarantee, timeline and payment obligations from bidders, with notably the obligation to reach FID within 12 months of the award backed by sizeable bank guarantees.
Bids -due July 31, 2024- can be submitted by international and Indian companies/consortium compliant with a minimum financial net worth threshold on the basis of a preliminary technical concept.
