CCS: Carbon Capture for Industrial Decarbonization

November 7, 2023

Carbon capture offers imminent decarbonisation to many industries and is also deemed to be a crucial part of our net zero ambitions according to the International Energy Agency. Regarding its use in the hydrogen industry, there are mixed opinions as it can be used to decarbonise the mobility sector (through e-fuels) but can also be used as a tool to sustain emission-heavy projects.

In this article, we see what the different methods of carbon capture are and we take a look at the Northern Lights project in Norway, the nearest-term large-scale project providing an open-source infrastructure for CO2 transport and storage.

Finally, we draw comparisons between the Australian Hydrogen Headstart program and the recently announced European Union Pilot auction.
