Maximising Domestic Value with Green Hydrogen

February 5, 2024

At Yamna, we believe that hydrogen exporting countries need to get their fair share of the global H2 economy. This is why export-driven projects need to assess and maximise their Domestic Value Creation.

In return for providing developers with land and renewable energy resources, exporting countries can and should expect to see local value creation in-country, such as trainings, direct job creation, emergence of new industries, promotion of SMEs, assembling or manufacturing of key equipment locally, to foster economic growth and social upliftment.

Consequently, H2 project developers should prioritise the establishment of measurable and concrete Domestic Value Creation initiatives. These initiatives should be strategically structured around four key pillars:

  • Education and social development
  • Job creation
  • Domestic sourcing
  • Industrial development

How can hydrogen project maximise Domestic Value Creation? What are they key KPIs to be assessed?

Here’s our take at Yamna!
