Germany Approves to Build its Hydrogen Core Network

The German Federal Network Agency, Bundesnetzagentur, has approved the proposal for Germany’s hydrogen core network. This ambitious network will span 9,040 km of new and repurposed pipelines to transport hydrogen nationwide as early as of 2025.

Hydrogen network operators will take on the construction and financing, supported by the state, and recover their costs through network tariffs from users once operations begin.

As an important piece of the hydrogen supply chain, this core network will facilitate global hydrogen imports to Germany, bridging large-scale import hubs and industrial end-use sites across the country.
